Sri Lanka's coast free of terror; Army 58 Div links up with the 59 Div
Sri Lankan soldiers of Army 58 Division have linked up with the 59 Division soldiers freeing the last remaining coastal stretch under LTTE clutches. The link up marks the total liberation of the Island's coastline from three decades of terror.
According to the battlefield reports, infantrymen of Army 58 Division completed their three-day southbound march along the coast this morning (May 16) when they linked up with their comrades of 59 Division on the Mullaittivu frontage.
The sources further said that over 4300 civilians held at hostage by the terrorists were rescued by 58 Division alone during yesterday's operations. Among the refugees were many family members of senior LTTE leaders. Also, there were many junior LTTE cadres, including suicide bombers who surrendered themselves to the soldiers.
Separately, troops of 53 Division marching southwards along the eastern bank of the Nanthikadal lagoon rescued over 4550 civilians yesterday.

Lankan mission in The Hague attacked again
Did Soosai trust the SL military?
Soosai’s family and relatives were taken into custody by the Sri Lanka Navy yesterday. But what puzzles most observers is the question whether Soosai really believed that they could escape the tight security cordon deployed on the north-eastern seas.
What most observers say is that though trapped with his leader at Karayamullivaikkal, Soosai apparently had the belief that even if his family was captured by the Sri Lankan security forces, they would be treated humanely and escorted to safety. They also say that this was more like a voluntary but indirect hand over of his family for safety.

Tigers cornered, troops move in
LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran and his remaining faithfuls have been effectively denied any access to the sea and chances of escape as troops of the Sri Lanka Army’s 58 and 59 Divisions linked along the beaches of Karayamullivaikkal, says Adaderana correspondent in the area Kularuwan Gamage.
The rescue of civilians is going on apace and a large number of civilians are arriving into military controlled areas from the No Fire Zone. LTTE leader V. Prabhakaran and Soosai are still believed to be in the area by now surrounded by the troops on either sides north and east, the sea and the Navy on the east and the Nanthi Kadal lagoon and more troops towards the west.

Cash and gold found with Soosai’s wife

Rupees 575,000 in cash, 2.5 kilograms of gold and five gold biscuits were among the valuables in possession of Soosai’s wife and relatives who were taken into Navy detention this morning.
Soosai’s wife, son, relatives in Navy hands

LTTE Sea Tiger leader Soosai’s wife, son, Soosai’s sister-in-law and her son have been taken into custody by the Sri Lanka Navy off the coasts of Mullaitivu while attempting to escape by boat. A load of cash too was recovered and is in the process of being counted, says the Navy spokesman.
The final rescue mission on the way; LTTE continue to fire at escaping civilians
Sri Lankan soldiers have reached the final phase of their hostage rescue mission as they opened up an escape route for the last group of hostages held in the Vellamullivaikkal area last morning (May 14).
According to the latest battlefield reports, troops of 58 Division were just 1.5 km short of dominating the whole northeastern coast of the Island by last night. The expected linkup of the 58 and 59 Divisions, who are merely 2km apart on the coast will mark the total liberation of the coastline in the Island nation from the terrorist hold.
